Enjoying Culture
The warm New England summer has provided a wonderful backdrop for summer festivals. This Weekend will see more of the same as the state of Connecticut will offer a vast variety of activities for the entire family to enjoy.  In Goshen, the Litchfield Jazz Festival will return to the Goshen Fairgrounds with Mainstage stars, great food and drinks, crafters, workshops for kids, swing dancing, auctions, artist talks, and special performances on a second stage by Litchfield Jazz Camp students. Pick a seat under the tent or picnic on the lawn and watch the sun set over the Litchfield Hills.  In Mystic, the Mystic Outdoor Art Festival will feature more than 250 fine artists displaying their oils, watercolors, photography, pastels, sculptures and acrylic pieces. More than 60 fine crafters will display their creative works, plus a wide selection of food and beverage items will be available. The Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk will be home to the Marine Life Study Cruises where guests can collect and examine animals from all levels of the water column, including plankton, little crabs and worms. The Family Maritime Festival will be held at the Connecticut River Museum in Essex. Learn how to rope, caulk a ship and participate in maritime games, or tour a historic schooner and listen to maritime music. Celebrate fine wines from Connecticut wineries and vineyards at the Shoreline Wine Festival in Guilford. Pair the wines with some of the area’s finest foods and enjoy the setting of a beautiful farm orchard and background sounds of tasteful music.

Take in more culture through The Wine Enthusiast Package. The package includes one night at the Whitehall Mansion in Mystic, breakfast, wine and cheese reception, bottle of wine, tour and tasting of the Jonathan Edwards Winery. Rates from $99 - $169.
